Blueprints from Syria

Cyanotype prints are drawn by the sun itself. Botanicals are laid on treated paper, exposed to sunlight, and rinsed in water. Where the plants blocked the light, the paper stays white. Everything else turns deep Prussian blue.

Our first makers are women in Syria. They gather local botanicals, from canola to rose, and turn them into one-of-a-kind prints. Every piece carries the maker’s name and the plant it holds.

The first sample collection was made in the Netherlands to develop the method. Production in Syria is starting now.
